The National Academy for Educational Management (NAEM) is the first of its kind in Bangladesh which has been contributing very significant and supportive role in the area of education management, training, research and planning so as to ensure quality management of education at all levels of post primary education. As an apex institution under the Ministry of Education, NAEM underwent several changes and structural transformations over the last three decades to meet the changing needs of time in the educational system of Bangladesh. As a sequel NAEM is providing in-service training to the heads of the secondary schools, colleges, educational administrators for enhancing their professional efficiency and expertise in educational planning and Management in order to achieve their institutional objectives. It also organizes foundation training course for the Bangladesh Civil Service (General and Technical) Education Cadre for developing their service career. Besides that NAEM offers educational research methodology course for the selected members of Bangladesh Civil Service (Education) cadres to develop their efficiency in research activities. In addition to the above, NAEM organizes a good number of short courses like computer-course, office management, library training course, and orientation training programme for newly recruited school and college teachers. It conducts national and international seminars and workshops and undertakes research programmes on various problems and current issues in the field of Education and allied issues of national interest. The Academy also supervises and guides five higher secondary teacher training institutes across the country to build up expert teachers and institutional heads in the field of education. Moreover, it trains up the entire field level trainers and instructors to run the field level courses successfully. NAEM, since its restructuring in 1991 has taken up projects to strengthen and upgrade its activities. It deserves special mention that the Hon’ble Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia during her visit to NAEM on 28 January, 2003 has donated an amount of Taka one crore for developing NAEM as an institution par excellence in the area of educational Management and training. |

Establishing NAEM Regional Academies (Chittagong, Rajshahi) |
Main Objectives:
a. To enhance the annual target of NAEM training from the present number of 3800 to 6000.
b. To improve the quality of training by rationalizing and redistributing the training load of NAEM
c. To decentralize the training programs to cover untrained teachers and heads of educational institutions of far flung areas within reasonable time frame.
d. To improve existing training activities through impact studies, case studies and follow up of the training program.
e. To provide necessary physical infrastructure and corresponding manpower and other requirements for two Regional Academies for Educational Management (RAEM).
